A lecturer from University of Basrah accompanies the UNICEF team to visit the Chibayish marshes

At the invitation of the United Nations - UNICEF, the head of the Department of Architecture, Dr. Hamed Hayab Samir, accompanied the UNICEF team to visit the Chibaish marshes to learn about the current reality of the region in light of the drought and its effects on lifestyles in that region. The visit included meeting a group of people and listening to the problems related to change. The climate change and the migration it causes to the local population were also visited. The Marshlands Recovery Center was visited and a meeting was held with the District Attorney and a number of officials, in addition to the region’s notables, with the aim of unifying visions, discussing proposed solutions, and reducing the negative effects of drought on human and animal life, in addition to visiting a number of schools in the region and diagnose the lack of services and infrastructure there to find appropriate solutions to ensure the continuation of educational practice.
